Hand Made Prints: an exhibition artist-pulled multiples

Prospectus:
The Noyes Cultural Arts Center will hold an exhibition of print multiples in conjunction with the Southern Graphics Council’s annual convention Chicago in March 2009

Juror: Julian Cox, artist, printmaker and director of One Horse Press will select work for the show. He is currently Printmaking Studio Coordinator and principal printmaking instructor for the Evanston Art Center’s printmaking department/One Horse Press.

Awards and Recognition:
We hold that the arts are not competitive and therefore there will be no prize winners. Special recognition will be given for outstanding hand work and for technical innovation in printmaking. A recognition ceremony will be held at One Horse Press printmaking studio on Saturday, March 28, 2009.

Media Requirements:
All work will be hand pulled prints on paper which are multiples, part of a declared or actual edition of 5 or more identical prints. Imagery may be hand drawn or digitally generated but printing must be done by hand and executed by the artist. Framed dimensions must be no larger than 24x33. All accepted work must be framed with plexiglass (not glass) or mounted and ready to hang.

Eligibility:
The “Hand Made Prints” exhibition is open to all artists, 18 years of age or older. Works submitted must have been made in 2004 or later.

Submission Guidelines:
All work must meet the “Media Requirements” described above.
Each artist may submit three works for consideration.
A completed submission form and $10 entry fee must accompany each entry (please enclose a check made payable to the City of Evanston )

Artists may submit slides or images on CD। Slides must be 35mm, 2”x2” slides clearly marked with the artist’s name and the title of the work or number corresponding to the title list on the submission form. The top of the slide must be indicated. Slides should be contained in a transparent plastic sleeve.

CD’s should be JPEG format in a reasonable file size (below 2 MB) with the artist’s name and the titles or numbers corresponding to the submission form clearly marked on the CD.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance status by email by March 2, 2009. Accepted works must be received at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center by March 15, 2009.

Work should be shipped in a reusable box and addressed to the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes Street, Evanston, Il 60201, Attention: Julian Cox, One Horse Press.
Return shipping costs/postage must be included.
Works may be hand delivered (also by March 15, 2009), hand delivered works must be picked up by May 5, 2009 unless a shipping box and return postage is included with the work.
Applicants including a stamped, self-addressed return envelope will have slides/CD’s returned.

A price list must accompany all accepted works offered for sale.

Works sold through the exhibition will be subject to a 15% commission to the City of Evanston .
Exhibiting artists have the option of providing contact information to prospective buyers of their work। Noyes Cultural Arts Center will advertise the exhibition through in-house print material, email, website and other publications.

The Noyes Cultural Arts Center will provide $20,000.00 insurance for the entire contents of the exhibition, with a $250.00 deductible.
